Seaside Holidays in the past

Food

In the past fish and chips weren’t wrapped up in boxes, they were wrapped up in newspaper. That’s what they did in the Victorian times.

Places To Stay

If you wanted to stay near the beach and not go home for a few days or weeks or years you could stay at the Bed and Breakfast.
|
 |
The Pier

In the past people walked along the pier. There were entertainments and amusements. There were puppet shows for entertainment.
|
 |
Transport

In the past steam trains were only available because cars and buses and planes and ferries weren’t built in those days.

The Clown Person

Alexander C, Yr 3
I brushed myself off and thought of my friends. I heard a barking noise, my body started to shiver. I looked back and I saw a dog!
I thought I would have to run but I ran into a wall. I wondered what to do next and I got confused trying to think what to do next and how to get out of this mess. I leapt onto a crate and did tricks like standing on my hands with my legs in the air and then one leg and one hand on the ground. The dog sat down, I couldn’t believe the smell that came off the dog.

The Last Night On The Beach

We marched along the promenade, With smiles swiped across our faces, A cool breeze swept in our hair, As we looked for the perfect places.
The sea reached in and out, Like a giants enormous hand, We walked down the 3 steep steps, And danced across the sand.
I sprinted, desperately, to dip my feet in, And jump the lashing waves, My friends whipped their hands round, And turned to the crumbling caves.
We ran in and out and in and out, And copied the movement of the sea, We splashed, the waves crashed, Class 5, my friends and me.
After we had salt and chips, And we sat down on the concrete, The sea went mild, we went wild, Then we went back to the hotel to meet.

Mind Walk Along The Beach

The beach was standing ahead of me; greeting me with the warm, peaceful breeze; smothering my body with a calm stillness. I gazed out at the tranquil sea. I can taste the salty air rushing, like a river, through my body; the warm sand cushions my relaxing feet; the high piercing shrieks of laughter shatter my rippling thoughts. Towering over me, the sun pushed the comforting warmth through my veins. I took a few small cautious steps into the sea and sank into the ocean’s unrevealed secrets. Warmth and happiness wrapped me in a luxurious blanket. Relax at last………. Emma, Yr 6

Mind Walk Along The Beach

As I stepped along the scorching sand I heard the heavy flapping of seagulls wings fly above me; the smell of ice-cream all different flavours filled the sweet smelling air; I felt scratching sand grains stick to my wet feet. The wind wrapped around me as if it were giving me a huge hug. Because the tide was out, the pearly white boats named Sweet Sea and Treasure lay lonely in the still water. The atmosphere was calm and peaceful, great weather to collect shells and sunbathe to get a sun kissed tan. Such a lovely day! Hattie D, Yr 6

Our Class Visit To Charlecote Park

First of all we went on the coach. When we got there we met Tim and Linda. They showed us round the house and it was very interesting. We were all in groups and I was in Mrs Markham’s group. Then we went downstairs and there was lots of painted pictures around the room then we went upstairs and saw the bedroom and it had a high bed it was high up so little creepy crawlies couldn't get in. Then we went bug hunting, then we went to Tim and found things in the grass and then we had a word and we had to find things and we went back to Tim and people had to guess our word. After we had done it we went to look at carriages and then we went to the river and had lunch. Then after lunch we went bug hunting. And Zoe found a spiders, caterpillar and woodlouse.
