at Claverdon Primary School
Find out what the children will be doing during our 2008 Science Week at Claverdon Primary School.

During our annual science week, we had a number of visiting organisations to provide the children with a range of exciting and stimulating scientific experiences which we are not normally able to provide in school.

The aims of our Science Week these year were:

  • To stimulate scientific learning and instil a lasting enthusiasm for all aspects of science
  • To enrich the science curriculum by offering a range of engaging, stimulating and enjoyable learning experiences which extend the basic science curriculum.
  • To give the children an opportunity to experience the ‘awe and wonder’ of science by providing the opportunity to experience hands-on activities and enquiry based workshops across a range of scientific fields.
  • To provide an insight into the relevance and importance of science inventions and technologies which play a fundamental role in life today.
The children experienced activities covering a range of scientific disciplines related mainly to life and physical processes. The activities included:
  • Quantum Theatre performance 'The Lights and Sounds of Tinseltown'
  • 'hands on' investigations
  • Mad Science
  • KS2 visit to Snibston Science Discovery Museum
  • Life Caravan
  • Zoolab

Fertile eggs

We had a delivery of fertile eggs on Monday 2nd March along with incubator and brooder box. They hatched on Tuesday and Wednesday of Science week. The children were given the opportunity to handle them the following week.
